The “Community Mural: Oral, Archival and Spatial (Hi)stories” Kessariani22 project has been a vibrant, interdisciplinary initiative blending anthropology and architecture methodologies. The goal is to delve into Kessariani’s rich, multifaceted history through urban walks, oral history archives, and collaborative workshops. These activities foster urban awareness, shared experiences, and a deep understanding of diverse perspectives within the community.
Research and Curation
Under the curation of @kon.avramidis and @constantinos_diamantis, this project has delved into the gritty reality of Kessariani’s spatial and social history. By integrating visual media with traditional research methods, we have not only documented but viscerally engaged with the community, highlighting its complex narrative with unapologetic clarity.
Community Engagement
Central to our project is the creation of a bold mural by the artist R-EAST, forged in collaboration with Kessariani’s high school students and citizens. This mural is not a mere decorative piece but a stark visual chronicle of collective memory and community identity. Workshops led by @rtm_one from @imaginary_rooms equipped participants with the skills to translate their experiences into raw, impactful visual statements.
Support and Collaboration
This project is a collaboration between @dimos_kaisarianis, @archucy, and @aaschool, showcasing the power of partnerships in producing impactful community projects. It is funded by and conducted under the auspices of the @Hellenic Ministry of Culture, ensuring the project’s sustainability and alignment with broader cultural objectives.
Creative and Production Teams
The visual communication and promotional materials were designed by @post_spectacular_office, whose artistic vision helped encapsulate the essence of the project. The production was handled by @fijioffice, ensuring the smooth execution of all activities.
